This is a play on the Foster's Beer Commercials that show a picture of a puny beer and ask, "You call this a beer?" A huge can of Foster's is then slammed down while the narrator says, "This is a beer. Foster's--Australian for Beer."
Richard Sloan and Patricia Dechow are two accounting professors who have made tremendous contributions to the field. They are both from Australia, and they are currently at the Haas School at UC Berkeley.
